Hi! I’m Licho (they/them, he/him), an abstract watercolor artist who loves asking nerdy and important questions during my art practice, like what happens if…?!
My work is all about experimenting with materials—watching the influences on the movement of paint and water, and taking notes of these small surprises before turning them into big ideas.
I’m deeply inspired by cities where sharp architectural lines meet oceans and mountains – the tension between nature and human-made forms are endlessly interesting to me. Modern haute couture plays a big role in how I think about form and movement, especially the work of Robert Wun and Iris van Herpen, whose designs balance precision with fluidity in ways that feel very aligned with watercolor. In painting, I return again and again to artists like Mark Rothko, Piet Mondrian, and Wendy Artin—for their command of color, structure, restraint, and atmosphere.
Alongside my art practice, I work in healthcare and garment design and construction. The scientific rigor of healthcare—testing, observation, and documentation—shapes how I approach materials and technique, while garment construction keeps me thinking about structure, negative space, line, and texture. These worlds constantly inform one another in my studio.
I love sharing what I discover along the way, and I hope my work encourages others to experiment freely, stay curious, and see watercolor as a space for exploration rather than perfection.
