Hi everyone! I’ve been comparing two very iconic granulating blue pigments lately – Cerulean Blue PB35 and PB36 – and I had to share some thoughts because y’all, they are not only NOT the same, but there’s also a plot twist here.
Both are granulating, low staining cool blue pigments, and are always Series 4 or 5 paints. But, one is much more high tinting than the other, and with a wider hue range, which makes a big difference in its mixing behavior. But here’s the other thing: one is actually MUCH cheaper to make, yet still sold at the same price. Same Series 4/5 pricing, but very different production costs.
So if you’ve ever been at the art store wondering which of the two to pick – check out my Patreon to get my thoughts and breakdown: https://tinyurl.com/ycxw6me6
Also, I have a humble request for all my lovely watercolor scientists here! I’m currently about 125 watch hours away from unlocking YouTube memberships for you. This would make it so much easier for me to create more regular, structured watercolor science content for all of you.
If you’ve found my videos helpful, you can help make this goal happen by:
⭐Rewatching a video while you paint or relax (I recommend my deep dive into Cadmium Red PR108, or January’s Watercolor News Report!)
⭐Share a video with a friend or on social media
⭐Leave a comment on a video (I reply to every single one of them!)
Thank you all so much!
